Both have there faults and good bits. The Ulead one has more options. You can layer up to 5 video streams on top of each other. The Power director I have to use for the HD footage but it is a good programme.

Using two different ones Ulead Video Studio 11 by Corel and Power Director 6 both will support MPEG. You can get a trail version of Ulead from the Corel web-site. I also have Sony Vegas 8 but can not get it to work on my PC yet.

vegas is hellishly expensive, but you might be able to download a "trial" version and see how you get on, i think you'll find a bit torrent trial version...
